GENESIS OF THE INSTITUTE

As an important contribution of Government of India's initiative to provide impetus to the International Decade of Natural Disaster Reduction establishment of National Institute of Training in Search, Rescue and Disaster Response has occurred under the aegis of ITBP.

The institute is located at Basic Training Centre at Bhanu Haryana. It came in to existence on 30th June 2003. Primary objective of the centre is to impart training  on various search and rescue techniques and to prepare workforce to react to any kind of disaster in such a manner so as to provide prompt  assistance and minimise loss to life and property.

 

Motto of the institute is "KNOWLEDGE FOR SAVING"

Ex-Officio Commandant of the institute is Sh HS Goraya.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

OBJECTIVE OF THE INSTITUTE

Objectives of the training institute  are :

  1. To train one battalion of the ITBP as disaster management unit as per the directions of the MHA.

  2. To impart training in Search, Rescue, and Disaster  Response.

  3. To raise a disaster Management Battalion with the special capabilities of Medical First and Responders and Collapsed structure Search and Rescue

  4. To impart training in the dealing of the consequences of the Nuclear Biological and Chemical warfare

  5. To train instructors of the various departments of different state governments of the North India

 

 

 

 

 

 
FACULTY

The centre has well trained faculty . First and second TOT was conducted at NISA, Hyderabad under the aegis of the USAID and PEER programme. The  faculty for these TOTs are constituted  mainly from ADPC ( ASIAN DISASTER  PREPAREDNESS CENTRE).

Two more TOTs were conducted at NISA by ADPC trained ITBP and CISF instructors.

Exit Age: 45 years

Educational Qualifications:Graduate(Preferably with science background)

Rank: SI  TO  DC

 

For TRAINEES:

EXIT AGE : 40 Years for Constables to SI

                      45 Years for Inspectors to DC

Educational Qualifications:

Senior secondary Preferably with science background) for Constables and HC

 For S I to DC Graduate(Preferably with science background)

 

Supervisory Officers:

Should not be above 50 years of age

Ranks: DC,  2 I/C, and Commandants

#All personnel should have put in at least 3 years of service

 

JOINING INSTRUCTIONS:

Location:

NIT SRDR is located in foothills of Shivalik range of Himalayas.Bhanu is a small village situated near  Ramgarh( Distt Panchkula, Haryana) astride NH-73 (Chandigarh-Nahan). It is 23 Kms away from Chandigarh towards Nahan.

 

 
Transportation:

Connected by road from Chandigarh, Ambala and Dehradun, buses are available at regular interval.

 

Connected by Train  through Ambala Stn, and Chandigarh

Nearest airport is Chandigarh

 

 
 

Climate and Season:

very hot days during summer, but evenings are pleasant   and moderately cold during winters. Rains are from July to September , there is heavy spell of the rain.

 

 

 

 
Discipline
  1. The general rules and regulations pertaining to the security and discipline in ITBP are observed in Institute. Since campus is being shared with BTC where newly recruited constables undergo training your high degree of discipline will be an example for them to emulate.

  2. Generally no leave is granted to the trainees, however , extreme compassionate grounds may be considered.

  3. Any participant who do not attend a class will not be allowed to pursue the course further.

  4. Late reporting for the classes will  not be entertained

  5. No family permission or outliving permission will be granted during the  course.

Messing

Boarding and lodging as per ranks.

Advance deposit:

Participants are NOT encouraged to take any kind of financial assistance or  loan at the institute.

Security Aide`

All GOs should bring their SA along for the course duration. The institute cannot provide any assistance in  this regard.

Pay and allowances of participants be sent addressed to the DIG, BTC, SBI, PANCHKULA,  CODE : 1509

all arrangements in this regard shall be made well in advance so as to avoid any unnecessary correspondence in this regard at later stage.

all participatants are expected to clear all dues before departure.

 

 
Medical and physical fitness

All nominated candidates are required to bring medical fitness certificate indicating fitness to undergo training and vaccination against typhoid, Cholera, Tetanus and small pox.

Failure to produce certificate will lead to repatriation.
